Job Title  : Sr.Unix Administrator
Location : Charlotte, NC
Duration : 6 month contract

 

The candidate needs UNIX, Veritas, and Solaris as well as understanding the clustering. This is senior level and they need good communication skills!

 

Must Haves:
At least 5 years of strong hands on experience administering, monitoring and managing Solaris (8/9/10) and either SUSE Linux (9/10) or Red-Hat (4/5) environments.
 Over 5 years of experience with high-availability and Disaster-Recovery using technologies such as Veritas Cluster Services.
Over 5 years of experience with Veritas Volume Manager, Veritas File System, Logical Volume Manager for the Linux operating system.
Over 3 years of understanding key dependencies on critical infrastructure such as DNS, NIS and NFS and Net App Filers.
3+ years experience with any Change management system is required.
Over 5 years of experience automating activities using Shell scripting is a necessity.
5+ years of either Financial or Telecom or like environment experience.
Must be able to work in a fast paced environment
plus:
Experience with HP OVO, HPSA and BMC Patrol
Perl- plus!
Demonstrable experience with the administration or setup of Oracle/Oracle RAC/Sybase

 

Day to Day:
The Special Financial Services team within Wholesale is looking for a Sr. UNIX Systems Engineer who will be responsible for operations, design and planning activities on Sun Solaris, SUSE and Red-Hat Systems. The position would entail executing and documenting client solutions as well as providing guidance and procedural direction to Technology Planners/Managers within the organization. The position is responsible for all day to day activities as well as projects. Where needed scripting of processes for automation of activities. This individual will also be part of the 24x7 on-call/pager support for the existing UNIX systems. Candidate must possess solid problem solving, analytical, technical, written and oral communication skills.

 

Key Responsibilities
Administration of the UNIX and Linux environments including validating environmental health and providing day-to-day support is a key area of responsibility.
This individual will perform day to day operations, projects, planning and execution activities on Sun Solaris, SUSE and Red-Hat Systems.
