Role:                Senior Java Consultant

Location:          Austin, TX       

Duration:          10+ months (project is long term, so based on performance can be 2 year contract)

We have an urgent backfill need for one of our client. Senior Java Consultant must have at least 8 years of overall experience and have demonstrated experience doing the work listed below. Current PO is through August 2013, but project is long term, so based on performance, the consultant hired for this position can be there for 2 or more years. Job Description:

·         Must have at least 8 years of overall experience.

·         Support the agency java based applications in production - Java, JSF, Richfaces, Hibernate, Messaging, Struts, Portlets, XML, Hudson, CVS, Apache Mina, ehCache, Drools, Castor XML, SoapUI, WebSphere 6.0/7.0, RAD 7.5, SOAP Webservices, Oracle 10g, Tivoli Identity Management Server, F5 Big IP load balancer.

·         Support backend processing processes and be part of the rotating on-call team to identify, report, co-ordinate and resolve issue.

·         Follow agency related procedures in managing issues, preventing future issues, documenting issues.

·         Perform load testing using Load Runner Performance Center, BadBoy Software, Capacity planning.

·         Identify performance bottlenecks in the system and suggest performance tuning measures to WebSphere Application Server, Oracle Database Server and make coding changes in the application to support large number of concurrent users.

·         Support application at TCP/IP database protocol level.

·         Perform code reviews on vendor developed code following guidelines of the agency on java development coding standards, web application coding standards.

·         Provide detailed task estimations for new enhancements and bug fixes.

·         Develop mock Webservices to test interagency Webservices.

·         Provide help in configuration of VMWare Private cloud in terms of installation and management of application servers, security certificates, database configuration and management of VM instances.

·         Effectively communicate with business users and technical team to derive requirements and prepare design, test documents and develop features and enhancements to the projects.
